SOLUTION

A Chinese-Speaking Development Team

Working with a team that speaks your language removes one class of misunderstanding. It does not remove the others, so this page describes how the working arrangement is actually structured.

Who you actually work with

The team is based in Chengdu and works with clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South America, Africa and East Asia. Requirements and solution design are handled by people who will also be in the acceptance review, so nothing is relayed through an account manager who never sees the build.

  • A named lead who owns the requirement document and the schedule.
  • Engineers working directly on your system, present in review meetings.
  • A documentation owner responsible for keeping the handover package current.

How communication is structured

Remote delivery fails for predictable reasons: unclear ownership, decisions that live only in chat history, and progress that is reported rather than shown. Each of these has a specific countermeasure in our process.

  • A fixed overlap window is agreed at kickoff and held for the whole project.
  • Every decision is written into the requirement document the same week it is made.
  • Progress is shown as a runnable build every two weeks, not as a percentage.

Documentation and handover

Documentation is written as the project runs, not assembled at the end. Interface documentation, deployment steps and administrator guides are updated alongside the build, so the version you receive matches the version that is running.

  • Interface and data model documentation, in Chinese and English.
  • Deployment and rollback steps, tested on a staging environment.
  • Administrator guide with recorded walkthroughs.

Where remote projects usually go wrong

Most problems we are asked to fix in inherited projects trace back to one of three causes. Knowing them in advance is cheaper than discovering them later.

  • Scope agreed verbally, then interpreted differently by each side at build time.
  • No acceptance criteria, so "finished" means whatever the supplier says it means.
  • Source code and documentation withheld until final payment, leaving the client unable to verify anything.
FAQ

Questions we are asked

Are the developers in China or locally based?

The team is in Chengdu, China. Client-facing communication is in Chinese or English as preferred, and the overlap window is set against your working hours. No on-site presence is required for the majority of projects.

Which languages can the team work in?

Mandarin and English for day-to-day work, with Cantonese available for Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asian clients. Interface and document localisation covers German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Arabic, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese through native reviewers.

How is intellectual property handled?

Source code and documentation transfer to the client on completion of each phase, and the ownership clause is stated in the contract before work begins. Repositories are held under the client account where required.

What happens if we want to change supplier later?

The handover package is designed for that case: source code, build scripts, deployment notes and interface documentation, all current at the time of handover. Nothing is held back pending a future contract.

REGIONS

Delivery experience by region

The same delivery process runs in every region. Pick your region to see local cases, compliance requirements and the time difference.

Describe the current process first, then we scope the system

We are based in Chengdu and schedule calls in your working hours. Send the business scenario, the systems already in place and your timeline; one conversation is usually enough to judge feasibility and scope.
